Summer research is in full swing in the Matthes EcoLab at Wellesley College. Amanda Hernandez ’18 and Prapti Koirala ’19 have been collaborating with Jackie, Fiona, and Ashley through the Science Center Summer Research Program to conduct a precipitation manipulation experiment on soil mesocosms. Our experiment tests the hypothesis that soil microbes adapted to dry or wet field conditions will be more resilient to extreme events like their field conditions (drought or flood). Stay tuned for some exciting results from this work!
