A new article led by Cove Sturtevant and co-authored by Matthes was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research – Biogeosciences. This article used wavelets and information theory to investigate the temporal drivers of methane flux from two restored wetlands: one old wetland restored in 1997 and one new wetland restored in 2010. This analysis provided new methods for detangling the complex temporal drivers of methane flux and yielded important insights for understanding how methane flux might change through time as restored wetlands mature.
